Proximity Smart Support™ · BOS Innovations
Prepared for Your Company

Every hour your line is down, money walks out the door.

Proximity Smart Support™ puts the experts who built your machines back on your line in minutes — not days. Analytics then finds the capacity that never shows up as a line-down event.

PSS experts respond in minutes — not on tomorrow's flight
Why manufacturers choose PSS

Two platforms. One panel. Zero excuses for downtime.

Independently deployable, better together: Remote Support puts our experts lineside from anywhere; Performance Analytics tells you what happened, why, and what to do next.

Proximity Smart Support industrial panel with lineside monitor, keyboard tray, and IoT enclosure
The PSS Panel

One industrial workstation. Remote support and analytics on the line.

Hardened Windows 11 IoT PC with lineside monitor, outbound-only RMM, EDR, and patch management — so experts connect in minutes while your operators watch every session.

The support loop
  1. 1
ConnectPanel goes in with your machine — outbound-only link live from day one, experts on standby.
  2. 2
DiagnoseCamera playback + fault-to-PLC-step forensics find the real cause, not the symptom.
  3. 3
ResolveRemote fix while your operator watches lineside — most events never need a site visit.
  4. 4
OptimizeAnalytics turns every event into prevention: trends, SPC, bottleneck elimination.
What each team gets
FOR OPERATIONS

Minutes to expert eyes

Machine experts connect to your PLC, robots, HMI and cameras in real time — with full session logging and your operators watching along on the lineside monitor.

FOR PLANT & OPS

Fewer site visits

Most service events resolve remotely. That's travel cost, lost hours, and days of waiting eliminated — first-time-fix rates go up, downtime goes down.

FOR CONTROLS ENGINEERS

Data your ERP can't see

Micro-cycle rhythm, PLC step-to-fault timing, SPC on raw quality data, 5-year part traceability. Deeper-layer diagnostics than any production management system.

FOR IT & SECURITY

IT says yes, faster

Outbound-only TLS connections, isolated machine networks, MFA + role-based access, and a certification stack your security team will recognize on sight.

FOR CONTROLS ENGINEERS

Eyes in the field

CCTV cameras on automation risk areas feed a local NVR — replay any event. Footage never leaves site without local access first.

FOR PLANT & OPS

Works with your fleet

Compatible with equipment by BOS, TrueLight and others. Multi-protocol Edge Gateway speaks to most industrial PLCs.

Interactive business case

Downtime is the leak. Output is the rest of the factory.

Remote support recovers hours the line is down. Analytics recovers hours the line is running slowly — micro-stops, cycle time, bottlenecks — that never hit the downtime log. Figures below are rough estimates for discussion — not a PSS quote.

Estimated annual benefit of PSS to the customer

Discussion estimates only — not a PSS quote. Downtime scenario 10–35% (published PdM / remote-diagnostics band; default 20%). Output scenario 2–10% more good output on hours the line already runs (default 4%) — below McKinsey’s 10–30% digital-manufacturing throughput range and in line with ~3–5 OEE performance points from making micro-stops and slow cycles visible. Visit savings assume 60% remote resolution. An extra hour of output is priced at the same CAD/hour as a lost hour (a sold-out or paced line). Typical discrete OEE is ~60%; world-class is 85%. The annual service figure is a rounded, station-based estimate for discussion; it is deducted in the matrix and added to the with-PSS line as three yearly steps (month 0, 12, and 24). Actual PSS is quoted to your line. A tailored assessment is free — see contact below.

For your IT & security team

How it connects — without a VPN, without inbound rules

Both halves of PSS follow the same rule: the panel dials out, nothing dials in. Click any component for details. This is the exact architecture reviewed and approved by IT teams at major automotive manufacturers.

PATH 1 Remote support — how an expert reaches the line Press Run session to watch a session establish, step by step.

YOUR PLANT Machine network PLC · Robots · HMI Cameras → NVR (footage stays local) ISOLATED PSS Panel Industrial IoT PC Patch management RMM agent · EDR Local monitor (session visible lineside) Your internet drop (VLAN'd off core net) OUTBOUND ONLY TLS 443 · outbound RMM cloud relay End-to-end encrypted Session brokering Full audit log Machine expert 2FA fleet login Role-based access Remote desktop to that panel only 2FA Your representative at the cell approves each remote session on the local PC NO VPN · NO INBOUND RULES · NO PATH INTO YOUR NETWORK
Click a component — or press Run session to see the full connection sequence with narration.

Machine networks terminate on isolated interfaces of the panel and are never bridged to your corporate network. The panel dials out; nothing dials in. All you provide: one VLAN'd internet drop with outbound TCP 443 open (TCP 7075 fallback; port 80 for agent updates).

PATH 2 Performance Analytics — how machine data reaches you Same drop, same outbound-only rule — and the data comes back to your team, not ours.

YOUR PLANT Machine data PLC tags · sensors Vision · quality values · strings · timestamps NO IMAGES · NO CREDENTIALS Edge Gateway Multi-protocol Store & forward Speaks most PLCs IEC 62443 certified (buffers locally if the link drops) The same internet drop — no new rules OUTBOUND ONLY MQTT + HTTPS 443 Analytics cloud ISO 27001 data centres AES-256 at rest Retention you set Your team Browser · mobile Shift reports by email API into your MES / ERP MFA NO INBOUND PORTS · NO PII · YOUR PRODUCTION DATA STAYS YOURS
Click a component — analytics runs over the same outbound-only drop as remote support, so there is usually nothing new for your firewall team to approve.

The Edge Gateway makes outbound-only encrypted MQTT + HTTPS(443) connections — no inbound ports, and typically no firewall modifications at all. It collects booleans, numeric process values, strings (part numbers, batch codes, operator IDs) and timestamps: no image data, no credentials, no PII. You own the data, and permission to share it is never assumed.

Security & Compliance

Bring your toughest security questionnaire.

PSS has been through supplier security assessments at some of the most demanding manufacturers in North America. The Trust Center lists ISO 27001, SOC 2, and IEC 62443 coverage for remote support and analytics, with a link to every source certificate.

How does remote support work without a VPN? ARCHITECTURE
An enterprise RMM agent on the PSS panel initiates an outbound, TLS-encrypted connection to the RMM cloud. Our expert authenticates with 2FA under role-based access and the cloud brokers an end-to-end encrypted session to that specific panel only. There is no VPN tunnel, no inbound firewall rule, and no routable path into your network at any time.
What firewall changes do we need to make? NETWORK
For remote support: outbound TCP 443 (TCP 7075 fallback) and port 80 for agent updates — no inbound ports. For analytics: the Edge Gateway makes outbound-only encrypted MQTT + HTTPS(443) connections; no inbound ports and typically no firewall modifications at all.
What data do you collect? Any PII or images? DATA
Analytics collects booleans, numeric process values, strings (part numbers, batch codes, operator IDs) and timestamps. No image data, no user credentials, no personally identifiable information. Camera footage is stored on a local NVR and never leaves site without local access first.
Who owns our production data? DATA
You do. Permission to share your data is never assumed under any circumstance, and we will amend the NDA to state so explicitly if yours doesn't already cover it.
Is data encrypted in transit and at rest? ENCRYPTION
Yes — AES-256 encryption with TLS for all transmissions, and encrypted storage end-to-end in line with ISO certification requirements. A certificate-authority system protects against man-in-the-middle attacks.
Where is our data stored? CLOUD
In ISO 27001-certified data centers — European facilities for GDPR compliance, with SOC 2-certified US options available (New York and San Francisco). Cloud servers operate in an internal mesh; replication traffic never traverses the public internet.
How long is data retained? DATA
Retention is configurable at device setup to match your policy, with up to 5 years of part-level traceability and quality history available.
How is access controlled and revoked? ACCESS
Multi-factor authentication is enforced for all users, with role-based access control under a principle-of-least-privilege methodology. A designated admin can revoke any account instantly from the admin console. Every session is logged in a comprehensive audit trail.
Can our people see what your technicians are doing? TRANSPARENCY
Yes — a lineside monitor displays support activity in real time during every session, and sessions can be recorded for training. Optionally, we can require one of your representatives at the cell to physically approve each remote session before it starts.
How is the panel itself protected? ENDPOINT
Windows 11 IoT LTSC with enterprise-grade Endpoint Detection & Response, 24/7 remote monitoring with real-time threat detection, automated patch management, and rogue-software oversight that blocks unauthorized installations. Hardware is industrial-grade with IP-rated enclosures and port blockers.
What do we need to provide? SETUP
One internet drop VLAN'd off your core network with outbound 443 open, physical space for the panel, and an IT contact for validation. Professional installation, network configuration, security validation, and training are handled by our certified technicians.
We already have a production management system. Why this? ANALYTICS
PSS works a layer deeper: micro-cycle machine rhythm, PLC step-to-fault timing, SPC on raw sensor data, and 5-year part traceability — diagnostics your MES/ERP never sees. API access lets it feed your existing systems rather than replace them.

From a controls engineer

Challenge: ~30 operations, no visibility on where downtime was born → Result: bottlenecks located per shift

★★★★★

"The system gave us a live look at our operation to locate where the bottlenecks were occurring per shift... it showed us when a fault happened and what sequence step the automation was in. After using it, I would make it a requirement with any new automation cell."

Anthony Mancuso
Controls Engineer — Performance Analytics

Challenge: abnormal operation on a fully automated line → Result: remote fixes that prevented repeats

★★★★★

"There were several instances that we had to call for support. The engineers were extremely helpful in not just pinpointing the problem but putting solutions in place to prevent further instances. Proximity Smart Support was crucial to keeping our plant production running."
